Assistant/Intermediate Estimator - Housing Contractor - £30,000 - £40,000 + Package

I am currently working in partnership with an industry leading social housing contractor / developer (new build) who are expanding aggressively across all regional offices but in particular throughout their London region. They are currently building over £600M worth of regeneration projects within the M25 with each project possessing exciting and complex elements - this being so they are seeking an ambitious Assistant Estimator or Intermediate Estimator to join the commercial department to assist with front end work and pricing.

This is a position that would suit somone who has aspirations of moving through the ranks quickly and forging a career in the construction industry. My client, being part of a large group of companies have industry leading training programmes which will be rolled out where needed - this will be on a bespoke basis to ensure they can get you up to the stage of running your own projects at an accelerated rate. 

You will be working in a small dedicated estimating team - reporting directly to the Estimating Manager you will be expected to assist on the following responsibilities:

  • Receive, acknowledge and check tender documentation and raising queries as necessary.
  • Ensure sub contract quotations have been collated and checked for compliance prior to use.
  • The ability to price schedules of works and B of Q’s from first principles in addition to sub-contractor quotations.
  • To ensure all tender documentation has been collated in sufficient time for the adjudication.
  • To attend tender adjudications and explain in detail behind established tender cost.
  • Look to develop good working relationships with manufacturers, suppliers & subcontractors and generate new business opportunities for the company.
  • To be able to work under your own direction with minimum supervision within the preconstruction team.
  • To liaise with other members of the bid team as appropriate to ensure that all aspects of the tender are understood and responded to.
  • To assist in sub-contractor and supplier selection and ensure competitiveness.
  • Prepare commercial documents for tender handover to projects team.



  • Experience estimating and tendering residential projects.
  • Have experience pricing schemes up to £8M in value
  • Strong commercial awareness and commitment to achieving deadlines.
  • Experience using Conquest software package an advantage.
  • Good level of knowledge in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Technically and process minded.
