Senior Quantity Surveyor – Residential Developer  £65k - £75k + benefits

I am currently working in partnership with a FTSE 100 business and one of the largest construction companies in the UK; known for building high quality homes and communities across England Scotland and Wales.  We are in close partnership with their regional office in Hampshire who operate across Hampshire, Berkshire and West London with their sites ranging 1,000 Unit + housing schemes in the Home Counties to more complex RC Frame, mixed use projects in West London.

You will be reporting to the Commercial Manager for the region but still working very closely with the Commercial Director where you will be expected to provide full commercial management duties for predominantly traditional build housing schemes from conception to completion. You may be expected to, where necessary, to provide information for exercise of land purchase that will enable clear costs for labour and materials to be considered at that stage.

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be based out of the Hampshire office taking on a very hands on, management focussed position providing a great opportunity for someone looking to equip themselves with the right skills for a Commercial Manager title in the future.

Your day to day duties will include but not exclusive to:

  • Calculate prime costs for developments within the group (including labour, house pricing, site work operations and remediation works)
  • Provide detailed cost budgeting
  • Value engineering
  • Liaise with site team on a regular basis regarding costings
  • Assist with agreements on JVs and housing association contracts
  • Maintain Schedules of Quantities & individual pricing
  • Input and maintenance of databases and systems
  • Agreeing & Setting Budget
  • Procurement of subcontractors including payments and variations
  • Management and monitoring of Sub-Contractors
  • Budget reporting

The successful applicant will have:

  • Strong knowledge of NHBC, building regulations and Health and Safety processes
  • Ability to work in a team and manage junior members of staff
  • Experience using COINS (Preferable but not imperative)
  • Industry related degree or qualification
  • IT Literate
  • Experience working for developers or contractors
