This is an immediate opportunity for someone to lead gas related operations for a 4500 property contract and a team of 6 engineers providing servicing and breakdown maintenance.

You’ll report to a Divisional Contracts Manager but have overall responsibility for day to day supervision of all works and engineer activity on the contract. The Role:

This is an important and responsibly demanding position. You will be required to manage a large team consisting of 10-15 management staff ranging from Senior Site Managers down to Finishing Foreman and Site Engineers so man management skills are vital. It will be your job to oversee all on site activities; managing a large site team and all contractors on site to deliver this phase from inception and enabling works through to handing the finished apartments to the customer care team for customer move ins. You will be responsible for enabling works, groundworks, superstructure, shell & core, façade, fit-out, finishing and handover stages and the buck stops with you in all matters of health & safety, logistics, programme and quality management.

An understanding of the technical (design) and commercial aspects of the construction process is vital, and you will be required to liaise, advise, and oversee aspects of the commercial and technical team and processes to deliver this project, and understanding of the complete construction process is important, but the most vital aspect of this role is the ability to manage, motivate and drive a big team, getting everyone to work together for the common goal.

You will report directly into the phase’s Project Manager, and the schemes Production Manager, along with occasionally reporting directly into the Board of Directors.

  • To attend tender adjudications and explain in detail behind established tender cost.
  • Look to develop good working relationships with manufacturers, suppliers & subcontractors and generate new business opportunities for the company.
  • To be able to work under your own direction with minimum supervision within the preconstruction team.

We are currently working in partnership with the highly established residential developer, and their Surrey based office. They are looking to bring in a Senior Estimator to take over from their two current Senior Estimators when they move on later this year.

You will be working alongside them, effectively in a six-month hand over period, learning how the office runs on a daily basis until they both move on, one in March and the other in the latter stages of the year, leaving you to head the Estimating department in this office.

You will have full control over building your own team, being responsible for bringing in your own assistants to work under you.

They currently produce c500 units per year and their office is diverse, taking on a wide range of projects, from high end RC frame residential blocks in South West London, to bespoke luxury homes further out into Surrey. They are also involved in large infrastructure consortium projects too which you will also be involved in.

 

The Role

- Arrange site inspections

- Provide a detailed take-off and Bill of Quantities (BQ) using the Conquest Estimating software package

- Work on traditional Plan and Specification, Design and Build of Partnered Contracts

I am currently working in partnership with an industry leading social housing contractor / developer (new build) who are expanding aggressively across all regional offices but in particular throughout their London region. They are currently building over £600M worth of regeneration projects within the M25 with each project possessing exciting and complex elements - this being so they are seeking a strong Materials Buyer who can procure materials for large housing schemes.

This role is to be responsible for a 1,500 unit multiphase, regeneration project valued at over £260M – the demolition of a 1000 units has already taken place with the first phase of 300 units looking to complete in the summer of 2017.  This project is expected to run for a further 10 years providing a solid level of job security!

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Buyer, the Materials Buyer will be based out of the Hertfordshire office in a very hands on; "nuts and bolts" position; providing an excellent opportunity tobe involved in the full process from start to finish.

  • Procuring brickwork, carpentry and sanitary materials
  • Hiring plant eg. cabins, forklifts, fencing, cranes etc
  • Compiling monthly reports on budgeting control on all materials
  • Resolving supplier disputes
  • Attending monthly meetings on site, reporting on procurement processes
  • Support the estimating team with pre-tender quotations and resolve material specification issues

The successful applicant

You should have a strong background in residential development working for either a main contractor or residential developer. In terms of project experience, you should be able to demonstrate that they have started and completed projects and should have a good level of experience on Reinforced Concrete Frame buildings, with Metsec facades, Brickwork and Concrete basements.
